The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in the exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 1(1) of the Marshall Scholarships Act 19591, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Marshall Scholarships Order 2017 and comes into force on 23rd January 2018.

Amendment of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Act 19532

In section 1 of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Act 19532 (funding of Marshall scholarships), for “forty” substitute “50”.

Revocation3

The Marshall Scholarships Order 19723 and the Marshall Scholarships Order 19904 are revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order increases from 40 to 50 the annual number of Marshall scholarships that may be provided at universities in the United Kingdom to citizens of the United States of America who are graduates of recognised institutions of higher learning in the United States of America.

An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument because no impact on the private sector, civil society organisations or public services is foreseen.
