Coming into force

The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 154 of the Policing and Crime Act 20171, make the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2017 and come into force on 29thNovember 2017.

Amendment to the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 20172

In the Schedule to the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 20172, in the table, after the entry for the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1970 (2011), insert—

United Nations Security Council Resolution 2374 (2017)

Council Regulation (EU) 2017/1770 of 28th September 2017 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Mali3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of these Regulations)

These Regulations amend the United Nations and European Union Financial Sanctions (Linking) Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/478) so that United Nations Security Council Resolution 2374 (2017) of 5th September 2017 and Council Regulation (EU) 2017/1770 of 28th September 2017 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Mali (OJNo. L 251, 29.09.2017, p.1) are linked for the purposes of section 155 of the Policing and Crime Act 2017 (c.3), which provides that where a person is designated under a UN financial sanctions Resolution, they will be treated for a temporary period as being designated under the corresponding EU financial sanctions Regulation.

An impact assessment has not been prepared for this instrument because no impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
