The Bank of England Act 1998 M1 is amended as follows.

In section 7D (examination by Comptroller and Auditor General), in subsection (4)(b), after “settlement systems” insert “ , central securities depositories ”.

In section 9O (making of recommendations within the Bank), in subsection (2)(b), for “and clearing houses” substitute “ , clearing houses and central securities depositories ”.

In section 9S (duty to prepare explanation), in subsection (2)(b), for “and clearing houses” substitute “ , clearing houses and central securities depositories ”.

In section 41 (general interpretation), at the end insert—

“central securities depository” has the meaning given by point (1) of Article 2(1) of Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 2014 on improving securities settlement in the European Union and on central securities depositories;
