Section 23 of the 1965 Act42 (registration in connection with certain occurrences) is amended as follows.

In subsection (1)43, after “occurrence” (in both places) insert “or event”.

In subsection (2)—

(a)

after “occurrence” (in both places) insert “or event”;

(b)

in paragraph (a), for “the Minister of Technology” substitute “the Secretary of State”;

(c)

for paragraph (c) substitute—

“(c)

where that person is not the Authority or the Crown—

(i)

the Secretary of State, in relation to England and Wales and Northern Ireland;

(ii)

the Scottish Ministers, in relation to Scotland.”
