The Secretary of State is designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to measures relating to access to, the training for, the pursuit of, and the award of qualifications in the professions of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and midwifery, and their specialities, in certain other health care professions and in the profession of social worker, and in relation to the recognition of higher education diplomas, formal qualifications, or experience in the occupation, required for the pursuit of professions or occupations.
These Regulations make provision for a purpose mentioned in section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and it appears expedient to the Secretary of State for certain references to provisions of European Union instruments to be construed as references to those provisions as amended from time to time.
The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972, as read with paragraph 1A of Schedule 2 to that Act3.
