The Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Commencement No. 9, Saving Provision and Specification of Commencement Date) Order 2014

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (Commencement No. 9, Saving Provision and Specification of Commencement Date) Order 2014.

(2) In this Order—

(a)“the 1974 Act” means the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974(1);

(b)“the 2012 Act” means the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012; and

(c)“road traffic endorsement” means an order for endorsement made by a court in relation to an offence mentioned in Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988(2) (which is a sentence in relation to which the last entry in Table A in section 5(2) of the 1974 Act(3) applies).

1988 c. 53. Schedule 2 to that Act has been amended, in so far as it relates to endorsements, by paragraphs 2, 7, 19, 21, 23 and 30 of Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Act 1991 (c. 40), section 3(1) of the Aggravated Vehicle-Taking Act 1992 (c. 40) and sections 18(6), 20(4), 21(3) and 28 of the Road Safety Act 2006 (c. 49). Section 56(4) of the Crime and Courts Act 2013 (c. 22) amends Schedule 2 but is not yet in force. There have been other amendments that are not relevant.

The heading of Table A was amended by paragraph 5(b) of Schedule 8 and paragraph 22(2) of Schedule 12 to the Criminal Justice Act 1991 (c. 53). The last entry in Table A was amended by paragraph 6(2) of Schedule 4 to the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (c. 23).
