Citation, commencement and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Central Securities Depositories Regulations 2014 and come into force on 21st November 2014.

In these Regulations—

  • the Act” means the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 M1;

  • the Bank” means the Bank of England;

  • banking-type ancillary services” means the services set out in Section C of the Annex to the CSD regulation;

  • F3“credit institution” means credit institution (defined in point (1) of Article 4(1) of Regulation (EU) 575/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 on prudential requirements for credit institutions and investment firms) authorised pursuant to F4Part 4A of the Act;

  • CSD regulation” means Regulation (EU) No 909/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 July 2014 on improving securities settlement in the European Union and on central securities depositories M2;

  • F5...

  • recognised body” has the meaning given in section 313(1) of the Act.

  • F3“third country CSD” has the meaning given in section 285 of the Act.

F2Unless defined in these Regulations, any expression used in these Regulations which is defined for the purposes of the CSD regulation has the meaning given by the CSD regulation, and any other expression used in these Regulations which is defined for the purposes of the Act has the meaning given by the Act.
