11.  In regulation 3 of the Human Tissue Act 2004 (Ethical Approval, Exceptions from Licensing and Supply of Information about Transplants) Regulations 2006(1) (exceptions from licensing requirement), in paragraph (5)(a), after “level of autonomy” insert—

, and a part of an organ is also considered to be an organ if its function is to be used for the same purpose as the entire organ in the human body, maintaining the requirements of structure and vascularisation.
