The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Amendment) Order 2014

Accordingly, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 2(2) and (3) of that Act, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows:
Citation and commencement
1.
This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Amendment) Order 2014 and shall come into force on the twenty-eighth day after the day on which it is made.
Amendments to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971

The following amendments are made to Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

“Khat.”.
4.
““khat” means the leaves, stems or shoots of the plant of the species Catha edulis;”.
Article 3 of this Order adds khat to paragraph 1(a) of Part 3 of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 which specifies drugs which are subject to control as Class C drugs under that Act. Article 4 defines khat as the leaves, stems or shoots of the plant of the species Catha edulis.
