Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Police Act 19961, makes the following Regulations.
In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 6 of Schedule 2 to the Act the Secretary of State has consulted with the Association of Police Authorities, persons whom she considered to represent the interests of county and district councils in England and county and county borough councils in Wales, and such other persons as she thought fit.
Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Police Authority (Amendment) Regulations 2012 and shall come into force on 1st April 2012.
Amendment of the Police Authority Regulations 20082

The Police Authority Regulations 20082 are amended as follows.

In regulation 19A (extension of existing terms pending abolition of police authorities), for “10th May” substitute (in both places) “22nd November”.

In regulation 41 (requirement to advertise)—
a
in paragraph (1), for the words after “they shall” substitute “advertise, in such manner as they think fit, the vacancy that exists or will exist amongst the members of the police authority”;
b
omit paragraphs (2) and (3).
