1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections (Declaration of Acceptance of Office) Order 2012.
(2) This Order comes into force on 15th November 2012.
(3) “Police area” means a police area listed in Schedule 1 to the Police Act 1996(3) (police areas outside London).
2. The declaration of acceptance of office by a person elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for any police area in England must be in the form set out in Schedule 1.
3. The declaration of acceptance of office by a person elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for any police area in Wales must be either—
(a)in the English form set out in Schedule 1, or
(b)in the Welsh form set out in Schedule 2.

This Order specifies the forms of declaration of acceptance of office for persons elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for a police area in England or a police area in Wales. The declaration must be made within two months of election.
Article 2 provides that the form in Schedule 1 is the form of declaration of acceptance of office that is to be used where a person is elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for a police area in England.
Article 3 provides that the form in either Schedule 1 or 2 is the form of declaration of acceptance of office that is to be used where a person is elected to the office of police and crime commissioner for a police area in Wales.
Schedules 1 and 2 prescribe the form of the declaration of office in English and Welsh respectively.
