The Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2012

Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 1(1) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 19751. In accordance with section 18(4) of that Act he has consulted with such persons and bodies as appear to him to be requisite.

Citation and Commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 2012 and shall come into force on 18th May 2012.

Designation2

The sports ground specified in the Schedule to this Order, being a sports ground—

a

at which association football matches are played;

b

which is occupied by a club which is a member of the Football League Limited; and

c

which, in the opinion of the Secretary of State, has accommodation for more than 5,000 spectators2,

is designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
