Local authorities are required to send to the Secretary of State a list of the targets provided by the governing bodies by no later than 31st January in the relevant school year.

The 2004 Regulations have been amended by the Education (School Performance Targets) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2005, the Education (School Performance Targets) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2006, the Education (School Performance Targets) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2007, the Education (School and Local Authority Performance Targets) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008, the Education (School and Local Authority Performance Targets) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2009 and the Education (Local Authority and School Performance Targets) (Revocation and Amendment) (England) Regulations 2010.
