The Closure of Prisons Order 2011

Coming into force

The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 37 of the Prison Act 19521.

This Order may be cited as the Closure of Prisons Order 2011 and will come into force on 30th April 2011.

The following prisons are closed on the coming into force of this Order—

a

H.M. Prison Morton Hall, in Lincolnshire; and

b

H.M. Prison Ashwell, in Rutland.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides for the closure of H.M. Prison Morton Hall and H.M. Prison Ashwell on 30th April 2011.
