The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009(1).
In accordance with section 24(2) of that Act, the Secretary of State is satisfied that the specification of apprenticeship standards given effect by this order complies with section 27.
Following a direction by the Secretary of State under section 23(1) of that Act, the Chief Executive of Skills Funding has prepared and submitted to the Secretary of State a draft specification of apprenticeship standards, which has been modified by the Secretary of State under section 24(1)(b).
This is the first draft specification of apprenticeship standards to be prepared after the commencement of section 23, and in accordance with section 23(4), the Chief Executive of Skills Funding was not required to consult with the persons specified in section 23(2).
1. This Order may be cited as the Apprenticeships (Specification of Apprenticeship Standards for England) Order 2011 and comes into force on 1st March 2011.
2. The document entitled “Specification for Apprenticeship Standards for England (SASE)” published by the Secretary of State on 20th January 2011, with ISBN 978-0-85605-726-7, has effect.

This Order, made under section 24(1) of the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (“the Act”), brings the specification for apprenticeship standards for England into effect.
The Order specifies that the document entitled “The Specification for Apprenticeship Standards for England (SASE)” (“the document”) has effect. The document has been prepared and submitted by the Chief Executive of Skills Funding in accordance with the procedures in section 23 of the Act, and has been modified by the Secretary of State in accordance with section 24(1)(b). The document has been published by the Secretary of State (ISBN 978-0-85605-726-7) and can be found on the website of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills at http://www.bis.gov.uk/assets/biscore/further-education-skills/docs/s/11-521-specification-apprenticeship-standards-england.
The specification for apprenticeship standards for England specifies the requirements that must be met for recognised English frameworks to be issued under section 14(1) of the Act.
A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
