The Designation of Schools Having a Religious Character (England) (Amendment) Order 2011

Made

The Secretary of State for Education makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 69(3) and (4) of the School Standards and Framework Act 19981.

In making this Order the Secretary of State is of the opinion that a school has been incorrectly designated as having a Church of England religious character under section 69(3) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and has consulted the governing body and trustees of that school2.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Designation of Schools Having a Religious Character (England) Order 1999, which designates the foundation and voluntary schools named in the Schedule to the Order as having a religious character and states the particular religion or religious denomination in accordance with whose tenets religious education is, or may be, required to be provided.

The amendment corrects a factual mistake in the Schedule, which wrongly stated Tiffin School in Kingston upon Thames as having a Church of England religious character.
