Coming into force

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 16 of Schedule 2 to the Courts Act 20031 makes the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Courts Act 2003 (Continuing Provision of Court-houses) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and shall come into force on 1st July 2011.

Amendments to the Courts Act 2003 (Continuing Provision of Court-houses) Regulations 20052

Regulation 2 of the Courts Act 2003 (Continuing Provision of Court-houses) Regulations 20052 is amended as follows.

In the heading, for “local authorities” substitute “Common Council of the City of London”.

For “court-houses” in each place substitute “court-house”.

For “relevant councils” in each place substitute “Common Council of the City of London”.

In paragraph (2) omit sub-paragraph 2(b).

In paragraph (3) for “those” substitute “the”.

Omit paragraph (6).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

These Regulations amend the Courts Act 2003 (Continuing Provision of Court-houses) Regulations 2005 so as to omit the requirement for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames to provide the Lord Chancellor with the court-house and other accommodation at the Guildhall, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 1EU.
