Coming into force

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(3) of the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc) Act 19851 makes the following Order.

Citation, commencement and extent1

This Order may be cited as the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) (Amendment) Order 2011 and shall come into force on 26th May 2011.

This Order extends to England and Wales.

Amendment to the Sporting Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 20052

The Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 20052 is amended as follows.

In Part 1 of Schedule 2 after “Welsh Premier League,” insert “or whose home ground is for the time being situated outside England and Wales,”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which comes into force on 26th May 2011, amends the Sports Grounds and Sporting Events (Designation) Order 2005 for the purposes of designated sporting events to which the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc) Act 1985 applies.

This Order includes in the list of designated sporting events, any football match in which one or both clubs have their home ground for the time being outside England and Wales.
