Following full compliance with a direction given by the Secretary of State on 20 August 1997 to the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Trust to wind up its affairs and to take such steps as were specified in the direction for disposing of its property and rights and discharging or transferring its liabilities, and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 1(4) of the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust Act 1987(1), I make the following Order—
1. This Order may be cited as the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust Act 1987 (Dissolution) Order 2011. It shall come into force on 27th April 2011.
2. The Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust shall be dissolved with effect from the date of the coming into force of this Order.

The Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust Act 1987 was enacted to provide for the distribution of the surplus funds of the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust and to make provision for its winding up and dissolution. A direction was given on 20 August 1997 by the Secretary of State under the Act to wind up the affairs of the Trust and to take such steps as were specified in the direction for disposing of its property and rights and discharging or transferring its liabilities. The Act provides that when it appears to the Secretary of State that the direction has been fully complied with, he may make an order dissolving the Trust by statutory instrument. This Order dissolves the Irish Sailors and Soldiers Land Trust with effect from 27th April 2011.
