The Submarine Pipelines (Designated Owners) Order 2010

This Order is made by the Secretary of State in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 27(1) of the Petroleum Act 19981.

The Secretary of State, in accordance with section 27(3) of that Act, has given the persons proposed to be designated as owners an opportunity of being heard with respect to the matter.

Accordingly the Secretary of State makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Submarine Pipelines (Designated Owners) Order 2010 and comes into force on 5th January 2011.

Designation of ownership2

For the purposes of section 27(1) of the Petroleum Act 19982, each person specified in Part 1 of the Schedule is designated as owner of the pipelines described in Part 2 of the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates the companies listed in Part 1 of the Schedule as owners of the pipelines described in Part 2 of the Schedule. The pipelines described are used to convey petroleum which has been processed by the Scott platform; the first pipeline described in the table conveys oil from the Scott platform to the Forties oil pipeline and the second conveys gas from the Scott platform to the SAGE gas pipeline.

Both the pipelines are situated in the North Sea, off the east coast of Scotland.

A full impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument since it will not impose additional costs or reduce existing costs on businesses or the voluntary and public sectors.
