Regulation A6 (meaning of certain expressions in relation to persons who are not members of a home police force) is amended as follows.

After paragraph (5C) insert—

5D
For the purposes of these Regulations, an employed constable of NPIA shall be deemed to be a member of a home police force, except where the context otherwise requires.
5E
In relation to an employed constable of NPIA—
a
a reference in these Regulations to a force shall be construed as a reference to NPIA;
b
a reference in these Regulations to a police authority shall be construed as a reference to NPIA.
5F
For the purposes of regulation A4(3) to (6), an employed constable of NPIA shall be deemed to hold the rank of a member of a home police force (other than the metropolitan police force) which he is treated by the NPIA as holding for the purposes of his employment.
