The Childcare (Voluntary Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 2008

The Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 89(1) of the Childcare Act 2006(1):

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Childcare (Voluntary Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and come into force on 5th May 2008.

Amendment to the Childcare (Voluntary Registration) Regulations 2007

2.—(1) The Childcare (Voluntary Registration) Regulations 2007(2) are amended as follows.

(2) After regulation 7 insert—

Annual fee payable by a registered person

7A.(1) The time prescribed for the purposes of section 89(1) of the Act is the day which is the anniversary of the date of a person’s registration under section 64(1) or (2) of the Act.

(2) The fee prescribed for the purposes of section 89(1) of the Act is—

(a)in the case of a person registered under section 64(1) of the Act, £100;

(b)in the case of a person registered under section 64(2) of the Act, £110..

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Childcare (Voluntary Registration) Regulations 2007 which govern the voluntary registration of childminders and other providers of childcare in Part B of the general childcare register (under Chapter 4 of Part 3 of the Childcare Act 2006). Regulation 2 inserts a new regulation which makes provision for an annual fee to be paid by a person, who is registered in Part B of the general childcare register, on the anniversary of their registration. The fee is £100 for childminders and £110 for other providers of childcare.
