4. In the following provisions of the Population (Statistics) Act 1938, for “the Chancellor of the Exchequer” substitute “the Secretary of State”—
(a)section 2(2) and (3) (collection of information etc);
(b)section 6(a)(1) (application to Scotland).
Section 6(a) was substituted by the Transfer of Functions (Registration and Statistics) Order 1996 (S.I. 1996/273), art. 5(1) and Sched. 2, para 7(3).
