EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Films Co-Production Agreements Order 1985 (“the principal Order”) provides that films made in accordance with the agreements between the Government of the United Kingdom and the Governments of other countries listed in the Schedule are to be treated as British films for the purposes of Schedule 1 to the Films Act 1985. This Order extends the list of agreements scheduled to the principal Order to include an agreement with India of 5th December 2005 (Cm. 7423). The agreement with India was laid before Parliament on 17th June 2008 and is available from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website: www.fco.gov.uk. This Order also revokes a previous Order which amended the Schedule to the principal Order and has now been superseded.
