Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 129(1) of the Education Reform Act 19881.

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Education (Designated Institutions) (Amendment) (England) Order 2008 and comes into force on 1st August 2008.

Amendment of the Education (Designated Institutions) Order 1989

The Education (Designated Institutions) Order 19892 is amended as follows.

In Part 2 of the Schedule to the Order omit “Royal College of Nursing, Institute of Advanced Nursing Education (London)”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Education (Designated Institutions) Order 1989 by removing the Royal College of Nursing, Institute of Advanced Nursing Education (London) from the scope of that Order. The effect of removal is that the Institute is no longer a designated institution for the purposes of section 129 of the Education Reform Act 1988. It is no longer eligible to receive funds administered by a higher education funding council.

An Impact Assessment has not been produced for this Order as it has no wider impact on the costs of business, charities or voluntary bodies. The impact on the public sector is minimal.
