1. This Order may be cited as the Parliamentary Constituencies (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 and shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made (1).
2.—(1) For all the constituencies in Northern Ireland there shall be substituted the constituencies which—
(a)are named in the left-hand column of the Schedule to this Order;
(b)are designated in that column as either county constituencies or borough constituencies; and
(c)comprise the areas set out in the right-hand column of that Schedule.
(2) The areas set out in the right-hand column of the Schedule to this Order are local government areas as they existed on 14th September 2007.
(3) The Chief Electoral Officer for Northern Ireland shall make such re-arrangement or adaptation of the register of parliamentary electors as may be necessary to give effect to this Order.
