This Order brings section 163(2) of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 into force on 12th November 2007, to the extent indicated in article 2. The effect is to bring into force, in England and Wales, provisions inserted by that section into the Police Act 1997 which make the Royal Navy Regulating Branch, the Royal Marines Police, the Royal Military Police and the Royal Air Force Police police forces for the purpose of section 113B of the Police Act 1997. Police forces under that section may be prescribed or determined as relevant police forces for the purpose of obtaining information to be disclosed in an enhanced criminal record certificate under Part V of the 1997 Act.
