The Disease Control (England) (Amendment) Order 2007

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 8(1) of the Animal Health Act 19811, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Disease Control (England) (Amendment) Order 2007 and comes into force on 24th August 2007.

Amendment2

The Disease Control (England) Order 20032 is amended as follows.

After article 3, insert—

Emergency measures3A

This article imposes interim measures and ceases to have effect on 30th September 2007.

In articles 4 and 5(b), the references to 6 days shall be read as references to 20 days.

In the case of premises within a sole occupancy group that are 8 or more kilometres apart, paragraph 8 of Schedule 1 and paragraph 13 of Schedule 2 apply on the first occasion that an animal is moved between those premises, but cease to apply for any subsequent movement of any animal between those premises.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Disease Control (England) Order 2003 (S.I. 2003/1729) to prohibit the movement of —

a

any sheep, goats or cattle from any premises if any sheep, goats, cattle or pigs have been moved on to those premises in the previous 20 days;

b

any pig from any premises if any cattle, goats or sheep have been moved on to the premises in the previous 20 days.

It also disapplies the exemptions from the standstill provisions for certain movements of animals between premises in a sole occupancy group that are 8 kilometres or more apart.

These amendments cease to have effect on 30th September 2007.

An impact assessment has not been prepared for this Order.
