The Football Spectators (Prescription) (Amendment) Order 2006

Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 14(2) and 22A of the Football Spectators Act 19891, makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Football Spectators (Prescription)(Amendment) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 10th April 2006.

For paragraph (2) of article 1 of the Football Spectators (Prescription) Order 20042 substitute—

In this Order—
“the 1989 Act” means the Football Spectators Act 1989;
“FIFA” means the Federation Internationale de Football Associations, and
“UEFA” means the Union des Associations Europeennes de football.

For paragraph (2) of article 3 of that Order substitute—

A regulated match is an association football match in which one or both of the participating teams represents—
a
a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference or the League of Wales;
b
a club whose home ground is for the time being situated outside England and Wales, or
c
a country or territory.

For paragraph (2) of article 4 of that Order substitute—

A regulated match is an association football match involving—
a
a national team appointed by the Football Association to represent England or appointed by the Football Association of Wales to represent Wales;
b
a team representing a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of the Football League, the Football Association Premier League, the Football Conference or the League of Wales;
c
a team representing any country or territory whose football association is for the time being a member of FIFA, where—
i
the match is part of a competition or tournament organised by, or under the authority of, FIFA or UEFA, and
ii
the competition or tournament is one in which a team referred to in sub-paragraph (a) above is eligible to participate or has participated; or
d
a team representing a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of, or affiliated to, a national football association which is a member of FIFA, where—
i
the match is part of a competition or tournament organised by, or under the authority of, FIFA or UEFA, and
ii
the competition or tournament is one in which a club referred to in sub-paragraph (b) above is eligible to participate or has participated.
