4.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), section 58 (acquisition of British nationality, etc.) of the Act shall come into force on 4th December 2006.
(2) The coming into force of section 58 shall not have effect in relation to any application under the provisions listed in section 58(2) which was made before 4th December 2006.
(3) Section 50(8) of the British Nationality Act 1981(1) (which makes provision for the date on which an application is made for the purposes of that Act) applies for the purposes of paragraph (1) as it applies for the purposes of that Act.
