The Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Modification) Order 2006

This Order is made by Her Majesty in Council in exercise of the power conferred by section 87(7) of the Northern Ireland Act 19981.

Her Majesty considers it expedient to modify section 87(6) of that Act.

Accordingly, Her Majesty, by and with the advice of her Privy Council, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Modification) Order 2006 and comes into force on 15th November 2006.

Modification of the Northern Ireland Act 19982

Subsection (6) of section 87 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 is modified by adding at the end the following paragraphs—

the Age-Related Payments Act 20042 and the Age-Related Payments (Northern Ireland) Order 20043;

the Pensions Act 20044 and the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 20055

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order adds the Age-Related Payments Act 2004, the Age-Related Payments (Northern Ireland) Order 2004, the Pensions Act 2004 and the Pensions (Northern Ireland) Order 2005 to the legislation listed in section 87(6) of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. The effect of this amendment will be to render those Acts and Orders subject to the provisions in that section concerning consultation and co-ordination between the Secretary of State and the Northern Ireland Minister having responsibility for social security.

This Order does not impose any costs on business, charities or the voluntary sector.
