EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke the Education (National Curriculum) (Exceptions at Key Stage 4) (England) Regulations 2003. This means that the provisions of the National Curriculum relating to science are no longer disapplied at key stage 4 where a pupil is participating in an extended work-related learning programme. There is saving provision for pupils who are already in key stage 4 immediately before the start of the school year in September 2006 and who are already subject to a disapplication.

(2)

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority was established by section 21 of the Education Act 1997 (c. 44).

(3)

S.I.2003/252, amended by S.I. 2004/264.
