The London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2006

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 40(2) to (4) and (9) of the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 20061, makes the following Order:
Citation and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2006.

In this Order—
“the Act” means the London Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Act 2006; and
“the commencement date” means 30th May 2006.
Provisions coming into force on the commencement date2
The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on the commencement date—

section 2,

sections 6 to 12 and Schedule 2,

sections 17 and 18,
4
section 35(3) to (5), and
5
section 36(1), (2), (4) and (5).
Provisions coming into force on the commencement date except so far as they extend to Scotland3
The following provisions of the Act shall come into force on the commencement date except so far as they extend to Scotland—

sections 19 to 31, and
2
section 39(2) and (3).
Section 36(3)(b) of the Act4

Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), section 36(3)(b) of the Act shall come into force on the commencement date.

Section 36(3)(b) of the Act shall have effect in relation to purchases (whether compulsory or voluntary) completed before, on or after the commencement date.

In its application by virtue of section 36(3)(b) of the Act, section 295 of the Housing Act 19852 is modified so that extinguishment of rights and easements under that section takes effect, in the case of a purchase completed before the commencement date, on the commencement date.
Section 36(3)(c) of the Act5

Subject to paragraphs (2) and (3), section 36(3)(c) of the Act shall come into force on the commencement date.

Section 36(3)(c) shall have effect in relation to purchases (whether compulsory or voluntary) completed on or after 1st October 2005.

But, in accordance with section 40(9)(c)(ii) of the Act, this article shall not affect the lawfulness of anything done before the commencement date.
