The Monkseaton Community High School (Governing Body Procedures) Order 2006
It is the opinion of the Secretary of State, having regard to the matters set out in section 1(2) of the Act, that the implementation by the governing body of the provisions of this Order may contribute to the raising of educational standards achieved by children in England;
In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by section 2(1) of the Act, the Secretary of State for Education and Skills, on the application of the governing body, makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as The Monkseaton Community High School (Governing Body Procedures) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 12th May 2006.
Relaxation and modification2.
Time period3.
This Order shall have effect until 11th May 2009.
The School Governance (Procedures) (England) Regulations 2003, as amended (“the Regulations”), provide that every question to be decided at a meeting of the governing body must be determined by a majority of the votes of the governors present and voting on the question (regulation 12(2) of the Regulations). This Order enables the governing body of the Monkseaton Community High School to hold meetings otherwise than in accordance with regulation 12(2) by relaxing the requirement for all governors to be physically present at such meetings.
The Order is made under section 2 of the Education Act 2002. Article 2 relaxes the requirement for all governors to be physically present in order for the governing body to make their decisions by modifying regulation 12(2) to that effect. Article 3 provides that the Order has effect until 11th May 2009.
