<Text>The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980<FootnoteRef Ref="f00001"/> and now vested in him<FootnoteRef Ref="f00002"/>, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:</Text>

<Text>This Order may be cited as The A64 Trunk Road (Whinmoor Roundabout to County Boundary) (Detrunking) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st April 2003.</Text>
</P1para>

<Pnumber>2</Pnumber>

<Text>In this Order—</Text>

<Pnumber>i</Pnumber>
<P4para>
<Text>all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;</Text>
</P4para>

<Pnumber>ii</Pnumber>

<Text>“the plan” means the plan numbered HA10/OD/385, marked “The A64 Trunk Road (Whinmooor Roundabout to County Boundary) (Detrunking) Order 2003”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, ODPM-DFT, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, <Abbreviation Expansion="Saint">St.</Abbreviation> Leonards On Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA;</Text>

<Pnumber>iii</Pnumber>

<Text>“principal road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and</Text>

<Pnumber>iv</Pnumber>

<Text>“the trunk road” means the Leeds to Scarborough Trunk Road (A64).</Text>

<P1 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2003/89/article/3/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/2003/89/article/3" id="article-3">
<Pnumber>3</Pnumber>
<P1para>
<Text>The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies North Yorkshire County Council (who will become the highway authority responsible for that length) that the Order has come into force.</Text>
