The Secretary of State shall determine the circumstances in which and the conditions subject to which uniform and equipment is to be issued by the F1local policing body to a member of a police force of the rank of constable or sergeant, and in making such a determination the Secretary of State may confer on the F1local policing body discretion—
a
to specify the type of uniform and equipment to be issued;
b
to issue uniform and equipment to members of the police force in ranks other than constable or sergeant.
