Coming into force
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 5(7)(c) and (12)(c) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 19491 and of all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Interception and Disclosure of Messages) (Designation) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 29th December 2003.
Revocation2.
The Wireless Telegraphy (Interception and Disclosure of Messages) (Designation) Regulations 20002 are hereby revoked.
Designation of persons3.
The persons for the time being who hold the respective positions of Operations Director and Head of Field Operations of the Office of Communications established under the Office of Communications Act 20023 are hereby designated for the purposes of section 5(7)(c) and (12)(c) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949.

These Regulations designate the persons for the time being holding the positions of Operations Director and Head of Field Operations of the Office of Communications established under the Office of Communications Act 2002 (c. 11) as persons who may authorise interception and disclosure of wireless telegraphy messages under section 5 of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 (c. 54).
These Regulations revoke the Wireless Telegraphy (Interception and Disclosure of Messages) (Designation) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 2000/2409).
