The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 138(2) and (4) and 175(1) and (3) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19921 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Amendment (No.2) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 28th November 2003.

Amendment of Schedule 1 to the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Regulations 19882

In Schedule 13 (identification of stations and postcode districts) to the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Regulations 19884, in column 1—

a

for “Craibstone” substitute “Dyce (Aberdeen Airport)”; and

b

for “Woodford” substitute “Ringway (Manchester Airport)”.

These Regulations amend the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Regulations 1988 (S.I. 1988/1724) (“the principal Regulations”) in relation to the list of weather stations and applicable postcode districts in Schedule 1 to those Regulations.

Regulation 2 amends Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations by substituting Dyce (Aberdeen Airport) for Craibstone weather station and Ringway (Manchester Airport) for Woodford weather station as Craibstone and Woodford weather stations are unable to provide the temperature data required. As these Regulations are made in consequence of a defect in the Social Fund Cold Weather Payments (General) Amendment Regulations 2003 (S.I. 2003/2605) they will be issued free of charge to all known recipients of those Regulations.

The Postcode Atlas of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the postcode maps may be obtained from their publishers. These Regulations do not impose a charge on business.
