Coming into force

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 82 of the Police Act 19971, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the National Crime Squad (Senior Police Members) (Appeals) (Revocation) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 15th November 2003.

Revocation and transitional provisions2

Subject to the following provisions of this article, the National Crime Squad (Senior Police Members) (Appeals) Order 19982 is hereby revoked.

In relation to an appeal against a decision made in accordance with the National Crime Squad (Discipline) (Senior Police Members) Regulations 19983

a

nothing in the Police Appeals Tribunals Rules 19994 shall apply, and

b

the National Crime Squad (Senior Police Members) (Appeals) Order 1998 shall continue to have effect.

This Order revokes, with savings, the National Crime Squad (Senior Police Members) (Appeals) Order 1998.

The National Crime Squad can now directly recruit officers at all ranks and, as a consequence, disciplinary procedures for National Crime Squad officers have been brought into line with those applicable to officers in forces maintained under section 2 of the Police Act 1996 and the metropolitan police force and the City of London police.
