Coming into force

Whereas it appears to the Secretary of State that the import of certain Star Anise consigned from countries which are not Member States of the European Community no longer involves imminent risk of injury to health;

Now therefore the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 13(1) and 48(1) of the Food Safety Act 19901, having had regard in accordance with section 48(4A) of that Act to relevant advice given by the Food Standards Agency, makes the following Order:

Title and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Food (Star Anise from Third Countries) (Emergency Control) (England) (Revocation) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 12th September 2003.

Revocation2

The Food (Star Anise from Third Countries) (Emergency Control) (England) Order 20022 is revoked.

This Order revokes the Food (Star Anise from Third Countries) (Emergency Control) (England) Order 2002 (S.I.2002/334), which prohibited the import of Star Anise and Japanese Star Anise into England unless certain conditions were complied with. The Food (Star Anise from Third Countries) (Emergency Control) (England) Order 2002 implemented Commission Decision 2002/75/EC laying down special conditions on the import from third countries of Star Anise (OJNo. L33, 2.2.2002, p. 31). That Decision was repealed by Commission Decision 2003/602/EC (OJNo. L204, 13.8.2003, p. 60).
