The Royal Air Force Terms of Service (Amendment) Regulations 2003
Citation and Commencement1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Royal Air Force Terms of Service (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st October 2003.
Amendment to the Regulations2.
(1)
(2)
In regulation 15(1) (continuance in service), for the words “12 months” there shall be substituted the words “three years (or in the case of a person in air force service on 1st October 2003 who at that date has not already given notice under this paragraph, such shorter period as at that date remains)”.
On behalf of the Defence Council
These Regulations further amend the Royal Air Force Terms of Service Regulations 1985 (“the principal Regulations”).
Under Regulation 15 of the principal Regulations a person who is enlisted in the Royal Air Force on an engagement to complete 22 years of service may apply to continue in service after the date on which his enlisted term would otherwise expire. Under the same regulation, that person may make his application to continue in service at any time within the 12 months before the date on which his enlisted term would otherwise expire. These regulations amend the principal Regulations by extending the period during which such an application may be made to the 3 years before the date on which his enlisted term would otherwise expire (or such shorter period as remains at the time these regulations come into force).
