The Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (Functions) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2003
Citation, commencement, application and interpretation1.
(1)
These Regulations may be cited as the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (Functions) Amendment (No. 2) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1st September 2003.

These Regulations apply to England only.
(3)
Insertion of regulation 1A in the principal Regulations2.
“Functions of the Commission1A.
(1)
It is also the function of the Commission—
(a)
to manage and monitor any contracts entered into by the Secretary of State for the provision of independent advocacy services; and
(b)
to make to the Secretary of State such reports or recommendations as the Commission thinks fit concerning any matters relating to such contracts.
(2)
This regulation shall cease to have effect on 31st August 2005.”.
Amendment of regulation 2 of the principal Regulations3.
In regulation 2 of the principal Regulations (annual work programme)—
(a)
“(aa)
proposals as to arrangements to be made by the Commission in relation to their function under regulation 1A.”.
(b)
“(6)
Sub-paragraph (aa) of paragraph (2) shall cease to have effect on 31st August 2005.”.

These Regulations amend the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (Functions) Regulations 2002 (“the principal Regulations”).
Regulation 2 confers on the Commission an additional function of managing and monitoring contracts entered into by the Secretary of State for the provision of independent advocacy services and of making reports and recommendations to the Secretary of State on such contracts.
Regulation 3 amends the provisions in regulation 2 of the principal Regulations (annual work programme) to provide that the work programme shall also cover arrangements for carrying out this additional function.
Both provisions cease to have effect on 31st August 2005.
