HEALTH CARE AND ASSOCIATED PROFESSIONS
The Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 13) Order 2003

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 67(1) and (2) of the Health Act 1999(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation, commencement and interpretation
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 13) Order 2003.
(2) In this Order, “the Act” means the Health Act 1999.
Appointed day
2. 9th July 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 60(3) of the Act in so far as it relates to—
(a)sections 6, 7, 9(3) and (4) and 13 of the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960; and
(b)in Schedule 5 to the Act, the repeals relating to the provisions specified in paragraph (a) of this article.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into force on 9th July 2003 section 60(3) of the Health Act 1999 (partially) and repeals in Schedule 5 to the Act (partially). The effect is that certain provisions in the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960 are repealed in consequence of the coming into force of the Health Professions Order 2001 (S.I. 2002/254). Other provisions in that Act were repealed by virtue of S.I. 2001/1985 and S.I. 2002/1167. Sections 2(5) and 14 remain in force.
Note as to Earlier Commencement Orders

The following provisions of the Health Act 1999 have been brought into force by commencement order made before the date of this Order. In addition to the provisions listed below, various provisions of Part II of, and Schedules 4 and 5 to, the Act that extend only to Scotland have been brought into force on 1st October 1999 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 4) (Scotland) Order 1999, S.S.I. 1999/90(C.66), on 14th October 1999 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 6) (Scotland) Order 1999, S.S.I. 1999 No. 115 (C.73) and on 1st March 2000 by the Health Act 1999 (Commencement No. 7) (Scotland) Order 2000, S.S.I. 2000 No. 38 (C.2).
