The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 19771, and by section 5(1) of, and paragraphs 1 and 3 of Schedule 2 to, the National Health Service and Community Care Act 19902, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Royal Hospital of St. Bartholomew, the Royal London Hospital and London Chest Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 2003 and shall come into force on 20th June 2003.

In this Order—

  • “the Establishment Order” means the Royal Hospital of St. Bartholomew, the Royal London Hospital and London Chest Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 19943; and

  • the trust” means the National Health Service Trust established by the Establishment Order.

Increase in the number of non-executive directors of the trust2

In article 4(1) of the Establishment Order (directors of the trust) the words “5 non-executive directors” shall be replaced by “6 non-executive directors”.

This Order amends the Royal Hospital of St. Bartholomew, the Royal London Hospital and London Chest Hospital National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Order 1994, which established the Barts and The London National Health Service Trust.

Article 2 of the Order increases the number of non-executive directors of the trust from 5 to 6.
