Section 55 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 (c. 41) (late claims for asylum: refusal of support) is commenced on 8th January 2003 by the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2002 (S.I. 2002/2811). That Order commenced certain paragraphs of Schedule 3 to that Act (withholding and withdrawal of support) on 8th December 2002 for the purpose of enabling the Secretary of State to exercise the power to make subordinate legislation, and commences Schedule 3, so far as not already in force, on 8th January 2003. Pursuant to section 162 of that Act, section 70 (induction) came into force on Royal Assent, on 7th November 2002. Section 26A of the Immigration Act 1971 (c. 77) (registration card) is inserted by section 148 of the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, which is commenced by this Order.
