The Immigration (Transit Visa) (Amendment) Order 2002

In exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1A(1) and (2) of the Immigration (Carrier’s Liability) Act 19871, the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1.

(1)

This Order may be cited as the Immigration (Transit Visa) (Amendment) Order 2002.

(2)

This Order shall come into force on 17th April 2002.

Amendment of the 1993 Order2.

After article 2(b) of the Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 19932 there is inserted—
  • “; or

    1. (a)

      in the case of a national or citizen of the People’s Republic of China, holds a passport issued by either the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or the Macao Special Administrative Region”.

This Order amends the Immigration (Transit Visa) Order 1993 by providing an exemption in relation to those nationals or citizens who require a visa to pass through the United Kingdom for nationals or citizens of the People’s Republic of China issued with a passport by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or the Macao Special Administrative Region.

These provisions come into effect on 17th April 2002.
