The General Optical Council (Registration and Enrolment (Amendment) Rules) Order of Council 2002

And whereas by section 34 of the Act such rules shall not come into force until approved by Order of the Privy Council:
Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken these rules into consideration, are hereby pleased to approve them with effect from 1st April 2002.

This Order may be cited as the General Optical Council (Registration and Enrolment (Amendment) Rules) Order of Council 2002.

The General Optical Council (Registration and Enrolment (Amendment) Rules) Order of Council 2001 is hereby revoked with effect from 1st April 2002.
GENERAL OPTICAL COUNCIL
The Registration and Enrolment (Amendment) Rules 2002
In pursuance of their powers under section 10 of the Opticians Act 1989, the General Optical Council hereby make the following rules:—

These rules may be cited as the Registration and Enrolment (Amendment) Rules 2002.

These rules shall come into force on 1st April 2002 and shall apply to applications for registration, enrolment, retention, restoration or transfer to take effect on or after 1st April 2002, whether made before, on or after that date.

The rules approved by this Order increase with effect from 1st April 2002 the fees payable to the General Optical Council by ophthalmic and dispensing opticians and bodies corporate carrying on business as opticians for registration, enrolment or retention in, restoration to and transfer within the register of opticians. The fees were last fixed with effect from 1st April 2001 and have been increased by from 17 to 18 per cent.
This Order also revokes a previous Order of Council which becomes spent on the revocation of rules which are scheduled to it.
