The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 8 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 19861 hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, commencement and extent1

This Order may be cited as the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) (Amendment) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 1st April 2002.

This Order does not extend to Northern Ireland.

Increase in fees2

The Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 20002 is amended as follows:

a

in article 2(3) for the sum “£170” there is substituted “£252”;

b

in article 2(4) for the sum “£153” there is substituted “£226”; and

c

in article 3 for the sum “£763” there is substituted “£1,130”.

This Order, which does not extend to Northern Ireland, amends the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (Fees) Order 2000 so as to increase the fees payable by the holders of certificates issued under section 6 or 7 of the 1986 Act. Article 2(a) increases, from £170 to £252, the fixed element of the fee payable for a certificate under section 6 of the 1986 Act. Article 2(b) increases, from £153 to £226, the variable element of that fee. Article 2(c) increases, from £763 to £1,130, the fee payable for a certificate issued under section 7 of the 1986 Act.
