<Text>This Order may be cited as the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) and Transitional Provisions Order 2002.</Text>

<Text>In this Order “<Abbreviation Expansion="Learning and Skills Act 2000 c. 21">the Act</Abbreviation>” means the Learning and Skills Act 2000.</Text>

<Title>Provisions coming into force</Title>

<Text>Section 7 of the Act shall come into force on 1st March 2002.</Text>

<Title>Transitional Provisions</Title>

<P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/279/article/3/1/made" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/2002/279/article/3/1" id="article-3-1">
<Pnumber>1</Pnumber>
<P2para>
<Text>Despite the provisions of article 2(2) above, the duty contained in section 140(2) of the Act shall not apply in relation to any person if a Connexions partnership has not been established for the area of the local education authority in which the person undertakes his last year of compulsory schooling.</Text>
</P2para>
</P2>

<Text>For the purposes of paragraph (1)—</Text>

<Pnumber>a</Pnumber>

<Text>a “Connexions partnership” means a body known by that name whose functions include the provision of services such as are described in section 114 of the Act pursuant to arrangements made by the Secretary of State; and</Text>
</P3para>
</P3>

<Text>a Connexions partnership is “established” on the first occasion on which financial assistance is given to the body pursuant to section 114(3) of the Act.</Text>

<Text>The effect of this Order is to bring into force all the remaining provisions of the Act which are not already in force.</Text>

<Text>Article 3 contains transitional provisions relating to the coming into force of section 140(2) of the Act.</Text>
