Coming into force

In exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 99 and 103(3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19841 and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 134(2) of that Act, the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Regulations:

These Regulations may be cited as the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles (No. 2) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 2nd December 2002.

These Regulations extend to England only.

The Removal and Disposal of Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations 19862 shall be amended as follows.

In regulation 4A(1)3, after “a traffic warden”, insert—

  • “, a designated person to whom paragraph 10 of Schedule 4 to the Police Reform Act 20024 applies, or an accredited person to whom paragraph 7 of Schedule 5 to that Act applies”.

These Regulations amend the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986 to confer the same powers in relation to the removal and disposal of vehicles as are conferred on traffic wardens on civilians designated or accredited by a chief officer of police for this purpose under the Police Reform Act 2002. The Regulations apply to England only and come into force on 2nd December 2002.
